Can Silk Jacquard Also Be Printed? Reading a Layered Pattern

Original Celadon Confetti Italian silk jacquard TG-019.

Yes. A fabric can combine a pattern formed in the weave with a printed design. The two descriptions answer different questions and can both apply to the same piece.

Look for two layers of information

A quiet area may show woven dots or a tonal motif, while coloured flowers or another design occupy the surface. Changes in reflection can help you notice texture, but a photograph alone may not establish how every detail was produced.

Use a careful product question

Ask: “Does this article have a woven pattern, a printed design, or both?” Include the code and the particular detail you are asking about. Avoid assuming that every visible flower is woven simply because the collection is called jacquard.

Do not confuse a visual comparison with a production claim

Celadon Confetti TG-019 and Watercolour Floral TG-288 offer different visual directions. Their catalogue families are jacquard and satin respectively. That comparison does not identify the production process of every motif in either fabric.

Choose for the whole design

Pattern size, ground texture, weight and finish matter together. Plan which details should remain visible after seams and folds, then use the main printed-silk and jacquard guide for a fuller comparison.
